Water Balloon Drop
The object of the water balloon drop: Get enough water balloons in the bucket
to make the prize fall to the ground.
Here is what you need:
- A bucket - I use a 5 gallon bucket
- Thin rope
- Screwdriver
- A very thick rubberbands
- A prize, sealed cards, whatever you want them to work for
- Lots of water balloons (200-300) dependent on how many people playing
Pick a location that you can spread the water balloons all
over the place. Make it look like a huge colorful garden.
Cut the bottom of the bucket off.
Put the bottom back on. I use a screwdriver to put holes in the bottom side of the bucket. Attach by tying with rubberbands. (The reason for this is because if you tied the entire bucket up in the tree with rubberbands, the additional weight of the bucket is too much for the rubberbands.)
Put a prize or sealed cards, etc. in the bucket.
The hard part. Somebody has to climb a tree and tie the bucket.
When I did this for a Poker Run, I did a test. It took 5 balloons
in the bucket to break the rubberbands. (You can do your own test
by tying the bucket to anything at eye level. Then drop balloons
in to see how many it takes to break the rubberbands)
I had 250 balloons for them to toss. Guess what?
They ended up having a water balloon fight while trying to toss
balloons into the bucket. It was a blast!
An alternative to this would be to tie the bucket to a clothes
line pole or something similar. Then have a line(mabe a water hose)
around it that they cannot cross.
This is one of the water balloon games that has been a big hit.
The water balloon drop can be adapted for a specific age group
if needed.
- You could put a special prize in the bucket for the thrower of
the final balloon.
- You could put candy (in sealed zip locs) enough for everyone.
Kind of like a pinata.
- How about a clue to something.
- Use your imangination.
This game is a blast. I hope you give it try.
